Samuel George Thompson, aged 15, was employed as an apprentice in the Locomotive Department of the Midland Railway. He resided at 107, Friar Gate, Derby, and he was the son of Samuel Thompson, a tobacconist and fishing tackle dealer, and Louisa Thompson.
